Boom of Active Tourism in Spain
Adventure sports, according to ABC newspaper and El Confidencial, have grown considerably in the past year in Spain.
This has been possible because the supply is increasing, and Spaniards are increasingly looking for this type of adventure sports to enjoy their free time in nature.
The rise in sports participation and social awareness around enjoying nature have led to more than 1,300 companies in Spain now dedicated to adventure tourism.
By region, Catalonia and Andalusia have the highest number of enthusiasts and tourists engaging in adventure sports. In Europe, 25% of international tourism trips are related to this sector.
Some of the most popular adventure sports include bungee jumping, paragliding, rafting, scuba diving, and canyoning, with horseback riding being the most in-demand activity.
The desire to try new sensations and the constant innovation of new activities ensures that there are always new adventure sports to cater to all types of clients — by age group, origin, or personal taste.
