Rafting guide course
Date: 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of June.

This is a four days course with internship in voluntary company, plus level test and the possibility of working with us.
It is a preparatory course carried out in Andalucía for the International Rafting Federation (international rafting qualification). The examination will be on summer, depending on the student body, if the group is big enough and if it is ready to pass the test. It won’t be an exam suitable for beginners. If the group is not big enough, the exam will be carried out in Huesca.

Presentation:
This rafting guide course offered by OcioAventura Cerro Gordo is especially interesting for people who want to start as a rafting guide, as well as for those who want to keep training and improving their techniques.
It is a really intensive course which gives the students a solid education, highlighting the practice.
This training project will provide you the studies and training required to know all the necessary equipment and techniques used to descend white water rivers in rafting rafts. It is the basic training to get the International Rafting Federation Certificate (I.R.F.).
Our main interest is to train future rafting guides to work in our company.
Length and study organization:
This is a four days course, and each day is organised as follows:
Training blocks:
– Eight daily hours.
– During three days: one theoretical lesson (three hours) + one practical lesson.
– The last day: practical lesson.
Practices block (optional):
OcioAventura Cerro Gordo will keep to the company the right to organise a certain number of practices hours for those students who want to work in the future as a rafting guide in our company, in order to guarantee appropriate training.
Certificate issued:
“INTRODUCTION TO RAFTING” (40 hours), after carrying out the three training blocks.
“CLASS II-III RAFTING GUIDE” (after getting the I.R.F. Certificate, not included in this course).
Students’ requirements for the white water rafting guide course:
You must be over 18 years old. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you will need a parental authorisation.
You must know how to swim.
This course is also aimed at potential professionals of this sector, such as PE students, PE teaching students, upper and intermediate level educational cycles (sports), sports instructors and all those who love adventure sports and want to turn their passion into their job.
Equipment::
All the necessary equipment will be provided by the organizing company: teaching material, class notes, wetsuits, life vests, oars, rafts, ropes…
El Personal equipment that the student must bring:
– Distress whistle.
– Swimsuit under the wetsuit, towel, sports clothes and trainers.
We depend on the water level, so it is highly likely that we do a picnic next to the river to make the most of the river.

- Raft driving and types of shovelful.

- Descent of the river to put of the new knowledge into practice.

- White water basic knots.
- Hoists.
- Group conducting and talks about security.
- Descent of the river.
- Raft rotation.
- Swim techniques in rapids (3rd level).
- River rapids guidance in the presence of an instructor and using a security kayak.
